Lancashire-wide IT support, with local roots
Initiate IT works with businesses across Lancashire from a home base in Leyland (with the registered office at Strawberry Fields Digital Hub in Chorley). The county’s a particular shape, a strong central belt running Preston-Leyland-Chorley along the M6, the Ribble Valley to the east, the coast through Blackpool and Lancaster to the north and west, and the East Lancashire towns of Burnley, Blackburn, and Accrington, and the SMB economy across all of it shares more in common than a quick glance suggests.
Most of my Lancashire clients are between 5 and 30 employees, founder-led, and growing. They span the sectors I work with most actively, professional services, consultancy, construction, recruitment, accountancy, and they tend to share a frustration with IT support that’s been bought from large national MSPs designed for businesses 10 times their size.
Why Lancashire SMBs work with me
The competing options for Lancashire SMBs are usually one of three: a generic national MSP that signs you up to a 3-year contract and bills regardless of whether they understand the business; a sole trader who’s brilliantly capable but doesn’t have the breadth of capability for everything modern IT now covers; or muddling through with no provider at all and hoping nothing breaks.
Initiate IT exists in the gap. Founder-led (one main relationship, mine), but with the breadth of capability that comes from running a deliberate consultancy rather than a one-man operation. Premium positioning, I’m not the cheapest, but proportionate to the businesses I work with, with no multi-year tie-ins and no aggressive upsells.
What “Lancashire-wide” actually means in practice
For retainer-based managed IT clients, day-to-day support is mostly remote, that’s how modern IT support works regardless of where you are. What being Lancashire-based adds is:
- The ability to meet in person for the engagements where that genuinely matters (initial scoping, quarterly reviews, complex projects).
- Knowledge of the local supplier and connectivity landscape, useful when sourcing business broadband, telephony, hardware.
- Proper understanding of the local business community, the way it operates, and the kind of constraints Lancashire SMBs typically work with.
- Access to a network of trusted specialists across the region for the work that genuinely needs an extra pair of hands.
The geographic constraint isn’t where the work happens, it’s where the relationship is grounded.
Coverage across the county
The most active client base sits across Chorley, Preston, Leyland, and the surrounding South Ribble area, that’s the central Lancashire SMB belt and where most of my Lancashire work has come from organically. From there, the offer extends to East Lancashire (Burnley, Blackburn, Accrington), the coastal towns (Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe), and the Ribble Valley. The Liverpool and Wigan-area pages on this site cover the Merseyside and Greater Manchester edges of the service area in more local detail.
